JAIRAMBATI

ABOUT THE PLACE

The clear thin air and the slowly flowing Amodar River of Jairambati remind us the divinity of Sri Sri Sarada Devi, the devoted wife of Sri Ramakrishna. In the year 1858 she was born in this humble village. A temple of the Mother has been established on the very place of her birth. It remains open from 4:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and again from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Inside the temple premise on the right side of the main gate is Mother’s ancestral house. On the opposite side of this house is a relatively new house where she stayed from 1916 to 1920. Other sights in the vicinity are a water body called ‘Mayer Ganga’ just opposite the bus-stand and Punnipukur beside Mother’s new house and the temple of tutelary deity Sundarnarayan and Shitala Mata on the bank of the pond.
