A beautiful village, Rinchenpong is situated at a height of 5,500 feet in west Sikkim. Here one can enjoy the magnificent beauty of the Himalayan mountain range amidst its quiet stillness and spectacular floral environs. On a clear day, the snow clad peaks of Kanchenjunga, Kabru, Rathong, Kumbakarna, Koktang, etc. dazzle the sky. Important places to visit here are Heritage House, Rinchenpong Monastery, Rabindra Memorial Garden, Risham Monastery, etc.

Gangtok can be reached directly by road from West Bengal through Darjeeling, Kalimpong and Siliguri.

Distance from New Jalpaiguri Railway station to Rinchenpong is 135 km and from Gangtok the distance is 130 km. From New Jalpaiguri station or Gangtok to Rinchenpong, the car rental is between Rs. 1,800/- to Rs. 2,100/-. For budget traveling, share jeep is available from Siliguri S.N.T. bus stand to Jorthang and from there travel to Rinchenpong by car.

The state does not have any airport in it. But the nearest Airport is Bagdogra (near Siliguri) in West Bengal, which lies only 125 kms away from Gangtok the capital of Sikkim. Bagdogra is connected to cities like Delhi and Kolkata by regular flights.

Barring the monson, Rinchenpong is enjoyable round the year.
