ABOUT THE PLACE
This lush forest region in Orissa is called Satkoshia Gorge. The Mahanadi River crosses through 14 miles of this hilly terrain and gorges and thick forest foliage grow along its banks. It is a paradise for winged creatures. Wild animals such as tiger, deer, elephant, bison, bear, leopard, etc. roam in this forest region. Different varieties of flowers, resplendent in various colours flourish in the forest.

From Cuttack railway station, 2 kms away is the Badamgarh bus stand. From here you can reach Angul either by bus or hired car. The distance is 124 km. At Angul itself you can hire a car for visiting the interior of the forest.

Many forest bungalows dot the Satkoshia Gorge Wildlife Sanctuary; namely Labangi, Puronokot, Tulka, Raigada, Baghmunda, Pampasar and Tikarpara. For night stay in the forest bungalow, necessary provisions of food items have to be taken along. The bungalow chowkidar makes arrangements for cooking your food. However, right now the bungalows are being repaired and hence closed to tourists. Near Puranokote and Tikarpara, at Ramgaonalay two eco-tourism camps are now operational. There are nine tents in the eco-tourism camps. At each camp, stay and meals for two persons will cost Rs. 1,100/-.
